Here are ways for YOUth to get involved:
There are lots of ways to get involved if you want to participate in the fight against cancer. You can volunteer at local events and programs in your area, rally support for legislation, and help with fundraising efforts.

ACS Youth Clubs
Start an ACS Youth Club on your school campus. Youth Clubs can bring the fight against cancer to peers and family members. There are many activities you can get involved in including cancer education, advocacy, and fundraising.

Become An Advocate For Change
 Let your voice be heard. Help secure legislation that furthers the fight against cancer. As an advocate, write letters, make phone calls to inform legislators about the American Cancer Society’s stand on cancer related issues.

Colleges Against Cancer (CAC)  is a nationwide collaboration of college students, faculty, and staff dedicated to eliminating cancer by working to implement the programs and mission of the American Cancer Society. With hundreds of chapters nationwide, CAC is showing the world that young people care and want to make a difference.

Daffodil Days
Daffodils are the first flower of spring, a symbol of hope and for the American Cancer Society, a promise that our world will one day be free of cancer. The American Cancer Society needs youth volunteers for a variety of tasks during Daffodil Days including; decorating the daffodil vases, assembling the daffodil settings and delivering daffodils to cancer patients.

Discovery Shop
Is your forte accounting? Your passion, visual merchandising? Are you a natural born salesperson? Do you love organizing and creating order and structure? How about marketing and promotion? Enterpreneurial by nature?

Not only will the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop help you gain business experience, but also you will help the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop grow and prosper through your ideas, insight, fresh perspective, energy and enthusiasm, intelligence and willingness to help make a difference.

Relay For Life
Relay For Life is a 24-hour cancer awareness and fundraising team event for the American Cancer Society. Join the over 5000 youth in California and volunteer your time at a Relay For Life event. Youth are needed for this event to fill positions like: team captain, youth recruitment chair, mission delivery chair, website chair and more.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
(San Diego, San Francisco and Sacramento)
If it hasn’t already, breast cancer will likely touch you or someone you know. Join Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and help make breast cancer a thing of the past. Making Strides is a non-competitive walk designed to raise awareness, foster camaraderie, and raise funds for breast cancer research, patient services, education, and advocacy. You can participate in Making Strides by organizing your own youth team or by volunteering at the event.

Media Spokesperson
Be available for interviews by the media and be ready to share your personal experience with cancer or your understanding of how cancer can affect a family.

Office Volunteer
Lend a helping hand inside your American Cancer Society office. Office volunteers help ACS staff with general office responsibilities or lend a hand with special projects and community programs.
